I’m Avery Bingham, I am the Copy Chief at iProv, and I am here today to tell you how to optimize your medical website for mobile. That means making it a place where visitors come and they make an appointment with you. We want to turn those visitors into people in your waiting room.
Creating Scannable Content
First off, you need to make your content scannable. People are not going to read more than 25% of what’s on your page, so you better make it easy to scan, and have those keywords really big, and headlines or subheadings.
Then we need to have good photos. You need photos of your staff, your doctors, or your dentists, or whoever is the main provider of your medical practice. And then you need photos of patients, happy patients, before and after’s. Whatever you have that maybe takes a patient from pre-treatment to post-treatment, we want to show what your services do to real people in the real world.
In that same vein of photos, you need to have video on your site! It’s a great way to engage your viewers. It let’s people see a real life patient go from pre-treatment to post-treatment. This is perfect for people like dentists who perhaps have a dental transformation. You can do an interview with the patient before hand and then after to see how that transformation occurred all the way through.
You need to make sure that your website is mobile optimized. That means it’s responsive, the photos work the exact same, your menu structure works on mobile, and people can use their phone, get on your site, and find exactly what they’re looking for. If they go on to their phone on your website and they can’t navigate, or things are too big or too small, they’re going to leave.
Testimonials & Reviews
Now we are getting to the good stuff. You’ve got to have testimonials on your site. You want your visitors who are looking on your site to see that you are a successful provider. You need testimonials either in the form of words, you could have a block of text, maybe on your home page that say, “5 stars for your clinic” and it describes someone’s experience. Or even a video testimonial, a patient saying they interacted with such and such doctor and they had this kind of experience. You want to bolster your credibility online with reviews, and with real life testimonials.
Easy-to-Find Phone Number
Okay, this one might be obvious, but we see this mistake a lot! You need your phone number to be huge. It needs to be huge on your header, it needs to be huge on your websites homepage footer. Header and footer, your phone number should be there. It needs to be clickable when someone’s on their mobile device so they can just click it and it goes straight to call. That reduces any barrier or friction between website visit and appointment made. It also means that if someone’s on their computer they can copy and paste it, email it to their friends, whatever they need to do, your phone number needs to be very large.
Finally, number seven, you have to have contact forms on your site. They need to be in obvious places where people can click either “contact us” or “make an appointment.” People can fill out their information and submit it immediately. That turns those strangers on your site, into people in your waiting room. It needs to be a nice, simple form, nothing complicated. That way there is zero friction between visitor and appointment.
Those seven tips may feel like a lot for your site. And if you think that your site needs some work, iProv can help. We do this everyday for our clients and we turn those strangers into people in your waiting room, and in your doctor’s office.
